The royal palace of Leh has historical importance as it was built in 1600 by King Sengge Namgyal. The museum of the Leh palace has a beautiful collection of jewelry, ornaments, crowns, dresses, and more.
The Tibetan Thangka or paintings are about 450 years old and beautifully crafted with intricate artwork. This splendid palace over Namgyal Hill in Leh was constructed under the King Singe Namgyal during the 17th century. It holds memories of Ladakhi soldiers in the form of a victory tower built in the palace and is a heritage building of medieval Tibetan architecture.
Although some parts are damaged, the Archaeological Conservation Organisation of India is now preserved and maintaining an administrative office in the palace.
